# On New Row Google Sheet

Learn how to use the On New Row Google Sheet trigger to automate WhatsApp outreach for spreadsheet-based leads.

**On New Row Google Sheet** activates whenever a new row is added to a connected **Google Sheet**. DoubleTick detects the new customer entry and starts a bot journey. Use this trigger when you store leads or registrations in spreadsheets and need **WhatsApp automation** to begin immediately.

#### Where to use this trigger

Use this trigger when:

* Leads are collected in **Google Sheets** instead of a CRM.
* Customer details are added through **forms**, registrations, or manual entries.
* You need **automatic WhatsApp outreach** for each new row.
* You want automation for **bulk lead follow-ups**.

This is especially useful for webinar signups, event registrations, offline lead entry, or spreadsheet-based sales workflows.

#### How to use it in Bot Studio

* Open **Bot Studio**, create a journey, and select **On New Row Google Sheet**.
* Click **Sign in with Google**. Use the Google account that stores your sheet, then allow the required permissions.
* Select the **Google Sheet** from the spreadsheet dropdown.
* Enable **Use First Row as Header** if your first row contains column names, such as **Name**, **Phone Number**, or **City**.
* Map the customer phone number: select the correct column in **Phone Number Field**. This step is **mandatory**.
* Build and publish the journey. For example, connect the trigger to a message action. See [How to Set Up Google Sheet Action](/bot-studio/actions/data-and-apis/how-to-set-up-google-sheet-action.md) for the reverse workflow.

After publishing, whenever a new row is added in the sheet, the bot journey runs automatically. For example, a business collects webinar registrations in a Google Sheet. Whenever a new row is added with a customer's phone number, DoubleTick automatically triggers a journey and sends a confirmation template such as "Thank you for registering. We will share the webinar details shortly." This makes sure instant WhatsApp follow-up without manual effort.

#### Key takeaways

* **On New Row Google Sheet** triggers automation for new spreadsheet entries.
* Mapping **Phone Number Field** correctly is mandatory for outreach.
* It is useful for leads managed outside a CRM, such as webinar or event registrations.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://learn.doubletick.io/bot-studio/triggers/on-new-row-google-sheet.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
