# How to mark chats as read or done

Learn how to manage your inbox status by marking individual or multiple conversations as read or done in DoubleTick.

#### Overview

DoubleTick provides two distinct options to keep your inbox organized and track pending customer conversations:

* **Mark as read**: Clears unread notification badges so you know which messages have been reviewed without resolving the conversation.
* **Mark as done**: Resolves the chat thread to archive or complete active customer conversations.

#### How to mark chats as read

**Mark an individual chat as read**\
Open the conversation you want to mark as read, click the **three-dot menu (⋮)** in the top-right corner of the chat window, and select **Mark as read**.

**Mark multiple chats as read**\
Click the **three-dot menu (⋮)** next to **All chats** at the top of the chat list and select **Select chats**. Select the conversations you want to mark as read, then click the **three-dot menu (⋮)** in the top toolbar and select **Mark as read**.

#### How to mark chats as done

**Mark an individual chat as done**\
Open the conversation you want to close and click the **circular checkmark icon** in the chat header, next to the search icon. This marks the chat as **Done**.

**Mark multiple chats as done**\
Click the **three-dot menu (⋮)** next to **All chats** and select **Select chats**. Select the conversations you want to close, then click the **circular checkmark icon** in the top toolbar to **Mark as done**.
