### How to create a WhatsApp link and QR code

Using the link and QR code generator, you can create a WhatsApp chat link and a WhatsApp QR code together, both built from a single welcome message. This helps customers reach you instantly, with a message already pre-filled and ready to send.

**Step 1: Log in to DoubleTick & go to homepage**\
Log in to your DoubleTick account using your registered phone number and OTP. Once logged in, the Chat section will open by default. Hover over the left navigation panel to expand the menu, then click Homepage.

**Step 3: Locate the quick links section**\
On the homepage, you'll see your **API phone number**, **status**, **messaging limit**, and **account quality**. Scroll down slightly, and on the right side you'll find **Quick links**.

**Step 4: Open the link or QR code generator**\
Inside Quick links, click either **WhatsApp link generator** or **WhatsApp QR code generator** — both open the same generator tool in a new tab.

**Step 5: Enter your API number**\
Enter the WhatsApp API number you want customers to reach, and make sure the country code is correct — for example, `+91XXXXXXXXXX`.

**Step 6: Add a welcome message**\
Add a welcome message, for example: "Hi, I want to know more about your products." This message appears pre-filled when customers open WhatsApp.

{% hint style="info" %}
A welcome message is compulsory — you can't generate a link or QR code without one.
{% endhint %}

**Step 7: Generate the link and QR code**\
Click **Generate**. DoubleTick instantly provides your WhatsApp chat link and WhatsApp QR code, both at the same time.

**Step 8: Copy or download**\
You can now copy the chat link, open it directly in WhatsApp, or download the QR code by clicking **Download**.

Once that's done, whenever a customer clicks the link or scans the QR code, they land on your WhatsApp API number with the welcome message already typed — they just press send.

### Where to use your link and QR code

**Instagram and Facebook lead generation:** Add your link to your Instagram bio, Facebook business page, or social media posts. Customers who click it land directly in your WhatsApp chat.

* More inbound leads from social platforms
* Faster customer engagement
* Higher conversions through direct chat

**Website contact button:** Place the link on your website's "Chat with us" button, landing pages, or product pages, so visitors instantly open WhatsApp with a pre-filled message.

* Converts website traffic into WhatsApp leads
* Reduces drop-offs compared to forms
* Enables immediate support or sales inquiries

**Offline QR code in shops or clinics:** Display the QR code at store counters, reception desks, or clinic waiting areas so walk-in customers can scan and message you instantly.

* Captures offline visitors as WhatsApp contacts
* Builds a long-term lead list
* Enables follow-ups even after they leave

Every click or scan brings customers directly into WhatsApp with a trackable welcome message — and that message can also trigger an automated bot journey inside DoubleTick.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://learn.doubletick.io/chat-management/whatsapp-link-and-qr-code/how-to-generate-a-whatsapp-link-and-qr-code.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
