Learn how to set up a Click-to-WhatsApp (CTWA) ad from start to finish, from preparing your Meta accounts to publishing the ad with your DoubleTick number.

This guide gives you a quick overview of how to create a Click-to-WhatsApp (CTWA) ad that opens chats with your DoubleTick number. Each part of the process has its own detailed article, linked below.

#### Before you begin

To create a CTWA ad, you need a Meta Business Manager account, a Facebook Page, and a DoubleTick WhatsApp API (WABA) number. All of them must be connected within the same business portfolio.

#### How to create a CTWA ad

* **Set up your ad account**: Create a new ad account or claim an existing one within your Meta Business Portfolio.
* **Add your Facebook Page and WhatsApp API number**: Add your Facebook Page to the same business portfolio, and make sure your DoubleTick WABA number is linked to it.
* **Create the ad campaign**: Go to Meta Ads Manager, click Create, and choose a campaign objective such as Sales or Engagement.
* **Configure the ad set**: Select WhatsApp under Messaging Apps, choose your Facebook Page and DoubleTick API number, and set your budget, schedule, and target audience.
* **Design the ad creative**: Add your headline, images, and a clear call-to-action (CTA), then publish the ad.

The detailed steps for each part are in the articles below.

#### What happens after someone clicks your ad

When someone clicks your ad, they land in a WhatsApp chat with your DoubleTick number. This can trigger automated journeys, lead qualification, and agent routing, and you can track all of it in DoubleTick.

If you reply to the customer within 24 hours of their first message, a free messaging window opens for up to 7 days. During this time, you can message them at no charge.

#### Key takeaways

* Your ad account, Facebook Page, and DoubleTick WABA number must be in the same business portfolio.
* Create the campaign in Meta Ads Manager with an objective such as Sales or Engagement.
* Select WhatsApp and your DoubleTick API number in the ad set.
* Replying within 24 hours opens a free messaging window of up to 7 days.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://learn.doubletick.io/click-to-whatsapp/ctwa/ctwa-guide.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
