# How to appeal for a rejected display name

Learn how to appeal a rejected WhatsApp Display Name, when it's worth appealing, and what to expect after you submit the appeal to Meta.

What to do if Meta rejects your WhatsApp Display Name, and how to appeal the rejection if you believe your name follows Meta's guidelines.

#### What's covered

* [When should you appeal a display name rejection](#when-should-you-appeal-a-display-name-rejection)
* [Steps to appeal a rejected display name](#steps-to-appeal-a-rejected-display-name)
* [What happens after you submit the appeal](#what-happens-after-you-submit-the-appeal)

#### When should you appeal a display name rejection

If you've submitted a Display Name and Meta has rejected it, you can still appeal — but only if:

* You believe the Display Name fully follows Meta's [Display Name Guidelines](/meta-business-setup/display-name/whatsapp-business-display-name-guidelines.md)
* Your business name is clearly visible on your website
* Your branding is consistent across external sources

{% hint style="info" %}
If the Display Name genuinely violates the guidelines (generic, promotional, misleading, and so on), appealing likely won't help. It's worth fixing the name instead.
{% endhint %}

#### Steps to appeal a rejected display name

**Step 1: Log in to Your DoubleTick Account**\
Open a web browser, preferably **Google Chrome**, and go to **web.doubletick.io**. Log in using your registered mobile number and the OTP you receive — once logged in, you'll land on the Chat section.

**Step 2: Navigate to Manage Channels**\
Hover your cursor on the left side of the screen to open the navigation panel, click **Settings**, then click **Manage Channels** inside it. You'll now see a list of all WhatsApp API numbers connected to your DoubleTick account.

**Step 3: Select the API Number With the Rejected Display Name**\
Identify the API number for which the Display Name was rejected, then click the **three dots (⋮)** next to that API number and click **Update Channel Profile**.

**Step 4: Click "Edit on Meta"**\
A right-hand side panel opens. Locate **WABA Number Display Name (Visible on WhatsApp)** and click the **Edit on Meta** button — this redirects you to a new browser tab.

**Step 5: Open the Rejected Display Name in WhatsApp Manager**\
You're now redirected to **WhatsApp Manager** inside Facebook Business Manager. Select the API number for which the Display Name was rejected — the Insights page opens by default. Click the **Profile** tab, where you'll see the rejected Display Name with its status.

**Step 6: Re-enter the Same Display Name to Appeal**\
Click the **Edit** button below the rejected Display Name and enter the exact same Display Name that was rejected earlier.

{% hint style="info" %}
Once Meta detects that the same Display Name is being resubmitted, additional fields appear for the appeal.
{% endhint %}

**Step 7: Fill in the Appeal Details**\
For **Reason for request**, explain clearly that the Display Name aligns with Meta's Display Name Guidelines and that your business identity is legitimate and verifiable — for example: *"The display name submitted earlier aligns with Meta's Display Name guidelines. For verification, we are sharing our official website and Facebook page where the business name is clearly mentioned."* For **Business website URL**, enter the official website of your business, where the business name is clearly visible and branding matches the Display Name. For **Facebook page URL**, enter the official Facebook Page URL of the business.

**Step 8: Submit the Appeal**\
Review all the details you've entered, then click **Submit** — the appeal request is now sent to Meta for review.

#### What happens after you submit the appeal

Meta will re-review the Display Name, and approval or rejection is entirely Meta's decision. Review timelines are typically 24–48 hours, after which the status will change to one of:

* **Approved**
* **Rejected**
* **Under review**

{% hint style="warning" %}
Appealing does not guarantee approval. Make sure your website is live and accessible, your business name is consistent everywhere, and your Display Name isn't generic or promotional. DoubleTick cannot override Meta's decision, but it can guide you through the process.
{% endhint %}

#### Key takeaways

* Only appeal if you genuinely believe your Display Name follows Meta's guidelines
* The appeal path is Settings → Manage Channels → select your number → Update Channel Profile → Edit on Meta
* You must re-enter the exact same rejected name to trigger the appeal fields
* You'll need to provide a reason, your website URL, and your Facebook Page URL
* Meta makes the final call — DoubleTick can't override it

#### FAQs

**Do I need to submit a new Display Name to appeal?**\
No, you re-enter the exact same Display Name that was rejected. This is what triggers the appeal fields in WhatsApp Manager.

**What documents do I need for an appeal?**\
Your business website URL and your official Facebook Page URL, both showing your business name clearly, plus a short reason explaining why the name follows the guidelines.

**How long does an appeal take to review?**\
Typically 24–48 hours, similar to a first-time Display Name review.

**Is my appeal guaranteed to be approved?**\
No. Appealing doesn't guarantee approval — Meta re-reviews the name against its guidelines and makes the final decision.

**What if my appeal gets rejected too?**\
Revisit the [Display Name Guidelines](/meta-business-setup/display-name/whatsapp-business-display-name-guidelines.md) and consider choosing a Display Name that more clearly matches your external branding before resubmitting.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://learn.doubletick.io/meta-business-setup/display-name/how-to-appeal-for-a-rejected-display-name.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
