Learn how to change or edit your WhatsApp Display Name for an API number from DoubleTick, and how that request finally reaches Meta for approval.

What's covered

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure:

  • You have login access to DoubleTick

  • You have admin access to the Meta Business Suite

  • You're using a desktop browser, preferably Google Chrome

Steps to change your display name

Step 1: Log in to DoubleTick Web Open Google Chrome and type web.doubletick.io in the address bar. You'll land on the login page — enter your login mobile number and the OTP you receive, then verify the OTP and log in. You'll land on the Chat section of DoubleTick.

Step 2: Navigate to Settings Move your cursor to the left side of the screen to open the navigation panel, scroll through the menu, and click on Settings (it's the last option in the panel).

Step 3: Open Manage Channels Inside Settings, click on the third section, Manage Channels. You'll now see a list of all WhatsApp API numbers onboarded to this DoubleTick account.

Step 4: Select the API Number You Want to Edit Identify the API number whose Display Name you want to change, and click the three dots (⋮) to the right of that specific API number.

If you have multiple API numbers, make sure you click the three dots next to the correct one.

Step 5: Click "Update Channel Profile" After clicking the three dots, you'll see four options — Manage Assignees, Update Channel Profile, Go to FBM Account, and Deactivate. Click Update Channel Profile.

Step 6: Click "Edit on Meta" A right-hand side panel opens, showing the profile details of the selected phone number. Locate WABA Number Display Name (Visible on WhatsApp) and click the Edit on Meta button — this opens a new browser tab.

Step 7: You'll Be Redirected to Meta You're now taken to WhatsApp Manager inside Facebook Business Manager, where this number is onboarded.

Step 8: Edit the Display Name in WhatsApp Manager Click on the phone number or current Display Name, then go to the Profile section, where you'll see the current Display Name and its status (Approved / Rejected / Under Review). If the name is approved, you'll see an Edit button below it — click Edit, enter the new Display Name you want to apply for, and click Submit.

What happens after you submit

Once submitted, the Display Name request is sent to Meta for review. Meta checks the name against the Display Name Guidelines for WhatsApp Business Platform, and approval usually takes 24–48 hours.

Your request will land in one of three states:

  • Approved — the name is live on WhatsApp

  • Rejected — the name violates guidelines (you can appeal it)

  • Under review — pending Meta's approval

Key takeaways

  • Display Name approval is fully controlled by Meta — DoubleTick cannot approve or reject the request

  • The path is Settings → Manage Channels → select your number → Update Channel Profile → Edit on Meta

  • The actual name change is submitted inside WhatsApp Manager, not inside DoubleTick

  • Review typically takes 24–48 hours

FAQs

Can I change my Display Name directly inside DoubleTick? No. DoubleTick redirects you to WhatsApp Manager, where the actual submission to Meta happens.

How long does it take for a new Display Name to be approved? Usually 24–48 hours, though it can vary based on Meta's review queue.

What if I have multiple API numbers on my DoubleTick account? Make sure you click the three dots next to the correct number in Manage Channels before proceeding, so you edit the right one.

Where do I find the Edit on Meta button? Under Settings → Manage Channels → select your number → Update Channel Profile, in the right-hand panel next to your WABA Number Display Name.

What happens if my new Display Name is rejected? You can appeal it directly. You can refer to How to Appeal for a Rejected Display Name.
