How to Migrate a Phone Number from Co-existence (CoEx) to Co-existence (CoEx) on DoubleTick

Who Is This Guide For?

This article is for you if:

• Your WhatsApp Business phone number is already connected to another BSP (Business Solution Provider) or API provider.

• The number is currently working in Co-existence mode (both WhatsApp Business App and API are active together).

• You want to migrate the same number to DoubleTick, again in Co-existence mode.

Overview of the Complete Process

The migration process is divided into four major parts:

1. Releasing the number from the existing BSP using the “Change Phone Number” feature in WhatsApp Business App

2. Starting Embedded Signup inside DoubleTick

3. Completing Facebook login and business verification

4. Transferring chat history and finalizing the connection

Each step is mandatory and should be followed carefully.

Part 1: Release the Number from the Existing BSP (Mandatory Step)

Why Is This Step Important?

Since your number is already connected to another BSP, WhatsApp must first “release” it. This is done using the Change Phone Number feature inside the WhatsApp Business App.

If this step is skipped, the number cannot be connected to DoubleTick.

Open WhatsApp Business App

• Open the WhatsApp Business App on your mobile phone.

Go to “Change Phone Number”

• Go to Settings

• Tap on Account

• Select Change Phone Number

Replace Original Number with a Fresh Number

You will now temporarily replace your current number.

• Old number: Your existing WhatsApp Business number

• New number: A fresh number that:

  • Is not active on WhatsApp

  • Is not active on WhatsApp Business App

Enter the OTP received on the fresh number and complete the process.

At this stage, your original number is temporarily replaced.

Change Back to Your Original Number

Now repeat the same process again:

• Go to Settings

• Click Account

• Select Change Phone Number

This time:

• Old number: Fresh number

• New number: Your original WhatsApp Business number

Enter the OTP and complete the process.

Once done, your number is successfully released and ready for onboarding on DoubleTick.

Part 2: Start Embedded Signup on DoubleTick

Now you will begin onboarding the number inside DoubleTick.

Login to DoubleTick

There are two scenarios:

Case 1: First-Time Onboarding

• Login using your phone number and OTP

• Click on Get Started

Case 2: Adding as an Additional Number

• Login using your phone number and OTP

• You will directly land on the Dashboard

Go to Manage WABA

• Open Settings

• Click on Manage WABA

• On the right side, click Add Number

---

Choose Embedded Signup

• Click on Add Number using Embedded Signup

• Select Connect your existing WhatsApp Business number

• Click Confirm and Proceed

Do not select Cloud API onboarding.

Part 3: Facebook Login and Business Portfolio Selection

Login with Facebook

• If already logged in, your account will be auto-detected.

• Otherwise, log in to your Facebook account.

• Click Continue

• Click Get Started

Select Business Portfolio

• Choose your verified Business Portfolio.

• Business name, website, and country details will auto-fill.

• Click Next

Select Setup Method Again

You will again see two options:

• Cloud API

• Connect existing WhatsApp Business App

Select Connect existing WhatsApp Business App and click Next.

Enter and Verify Phone Number

• Enter your WhatsApp Business phone number.

• A 5-digit verification code will be sent.

• Enter the code to verify.

Select Time Zone

• Choose your correct time zone.

• Click Next

---

Review and Approve Permissions

• Review all access permissions requested by DoubleTick.

• Click Continue

Part 4: Chat Backup and Final Connection

This is the final and very important step.

Scan QR Code

• A QR code will appear on your screen.

• Click Scan QR Code

• A pop-up will show three options:

  • Share chats

  • Don’t share chats

  • Cancel

Select Share chats.

This allows the last 6 months of chat history to be transferred to DoubleTick.

Scan from WhatsApp Business App

• You will receive a message in your WhatsApp Business App from Facebook Business.

• Open the message.

• Click Scan QR Code

• Scan the QR code displayed on your screen.

Migration Complete

• Chat backup will begin automatically.

• You will see a confirmation message stating that the number is connected with DoubleTick.

• Click OK

Your Co-existence to Co-existence migration is now complete.

Final Checklist

After completing all steps:

• Your phone number remains the same.

• Your WhatsApp Business App remains active.

• Your number is now connected to DoubleTick.

• Up to 6 months of chat history is transferred.

• The number continues working in Co-existence mode.

Important Notes

• Do not skip the Change Phone Number step in Part 1.

• Ensure the fresh number used in Part 1 is not already registered on WhatsApp.

• Always select “Connect existing WhatsApp Business App” during Embedded Signup.

• Select “Share chats” during QR scanning to transfer chat history.
