How to Apply for an Official Business Account (OBA) for a Coexistence Number

If you are planning to onboard your WhatsApp number on Coexistence, it is important to understand one key difference:

For Coexistence numbers, the standard OBA request option is not available inside Meta Business Manager.

This means:

  • You cannot submit a regular OBA request after onboarding the number on DoubleTick

  • You must apply for OBA before onboarding the number as Coexistence

When a number is onboarded in Coexistence mode, it remains active on the WhatsApp Business App.

Because of this:

  • Meta does not show the “Submit OBA Request” option in the API profile section

  • The only way to get a blue tick for such numbers is through WhatsApp Business App’s paid verification process

Correct Process: Apply for OBA Before Onboarding the Number on DoubleTick

If you want an OBA (blue tick) for a number that will be used in Coexistence, you must complete the verification first inside the WhatsApp Business App.

Step-by-Step: Apply for Paid OBA Using WhatsApp Business App

Step 1: Open WhatsApp Business App

The business owner (or an authorized person) should open the WhatsApp Business App on the phone where the numbe1234r is active.

Inside the app:

  • Tap on Settings

In Settings, the first section you will see is:

  • Meta Verified

Click on this option to begin the verification process.

Inside Meta Verified, WhatsApp will show three paid plans:

  • Business Plus

  • Business Max

These plans allow you to apply for a paid blue tick (Official Business Account badge).

  • Choose the plan you want to proceed with

  • Make the required payment through WhatsApp

Once the subscription is active, your business will receive the official blue tick.

After the blue tick is successfully approved:

  • You can proceed with onboarding the same number on DoubleTick in Coexistence mode

This ensures:

  • The number stays active on WhatsApp Business App
