IP Access Control in DoubleTick
Enterprise-Grade Security to Protect Your Workspace
Data security is no longer optional β it is a business necessity. Every day, your team accesses sensitive customer data, conversations, lead information, and business insights inside DoubleTick. To make this access even more secure, DoubleTick introduces a powerful enterprise security feature:

π IP Access Control
With IP Access Control, you can restrict access to your DoubleTick workspace so that only users connecting from approved internet networks can log in. Even if someone has the correct username and password, they will be completely blocked if they try to log in from an unapproved location.
This feature is designed for businesses that take data protection, compliance, and access control seriously.
π‘ What Is IP Access Control?
Every device connected to the internet has an IP address. Think of it as the internet address of your device or network.
For example:
Your office Wi-Fi has one IP address
Your home internet has a different IP
A cafΓ© or public Wi-Fi has another IP
Your company VPN has its own IP
IP Access Control allows you to decide which of these IP addresses are trusted.
Once this feature is enabled:
β Users can log in only from approved (whitelisted) IP addresses β Login attempts from all other locations are automatically blocked β Even if the password is correct, access is still denied β This adds a powerful extra layer of protection beyond just login credentials
π― Who Is This Feature For?
IP Access Control is ideal for:
Enterprise businesses
Companies with strict internal IT security policies
Organizations using company-wide VPNs
Remote teams working in secure network environments
Businesses that handle sensitive customer data
Teams that require audit-level security controls
If your business operates in industries like:
Finance
Healthcare
Education
Real estate
E-commerce
High-volume sales or support operations
This feature is highly recommended.
π’ Common Real-World Use Cases
β
1. Office-Only Access
Allow your team to log in to DoubleTick only when they are connected to the office Wi-Fi.
This ensures:
No access from home networks
No access from public cafΓ©s
No data exposure from personal devices
β
2. Secure Remote Work Using VPN
If your team works remotely using a company VPN:
You whitelist only the VPNβs IP
All non-VPN connections get blocked
This ensures:
Team members can work from anywhere
But always through a secure, encrypted network
β
3. Multiple Branch Offices
If your company has multiple locations:
Add each branchβs network IP
Allow secure access across all locations
Block all other external networks
π What Happens If a User Is Already Logged In?
If IP Access Control is enabled while a user is already logged in from a non-approved IP:
The system automatically logs that user out
The user is prompted to log in again
Login will succeed only if the user connects using an approved IP address
This ensures that security is enforced immediately.
π§ What Is CIDR and Why Is It Used?
Sometimes, an office or VPN does not use just one IP address. Instead, it uses a range of IPs. To handle this, CIDR is used.
Example:
Single IP:
203.0.113.5β Allows only one deviceCIDR Range:
203.0.113.0/24β Allows the entire office or VPN network
CIDR is helpful when:
You want to secure an entire office network
You are using a VPN
You want fewer rules and easier management
Your IT team can provide the correct CIDR range if needed.
