How to Delete a WhatsApp Message Template from Facebook Business Manager

Learn how to permanently delete a WhatsApp message template from Meta WhatsApp Manager by opening the correct WABA from DoubleTick.

Use this guide to permanently delete a WhatsApp message template from Meta's WhatsApp Manager. You can open the correct WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) directly from DoubleTick, which helps you avoid deleting a template from the wrong account.

You will need: Access to DoubleTick, access to the connected Meta Business account, and permission to manage WhatsApp message templates.

Important: Deleting a template is permanent and cannot be undone. Meta also prevents you from reusing the deleted template's name for up to 30 days.

Before You Begin

Make sure you know the following before proceeding:

  • The exact name of the template you want to delete.

  • The WABA or channel on which the template was created.

If you are unsure about the WABA, open Templates in DoubleTick, search for the template, and use the channel filter to identify the account where it exists.

Step 1: Open the correct WhatsApp account in DoubleTick

  1. Login to DoubleTick and go to the Home page.

  2. In WhatsApp account overview, select the WABA or channel on which the template was created.

  3. Verify the WhatsApp API number shown for the selected account.

Checking the WABA and API number before continuing helps prevent changes to the wrong WhatsApp account.

Step 2: Open Facebook Business Manager

Click Go To FBM Account on the right side of the WhatsApp account overview.

DoubleTick opens Meta's WhatsApp Manager in a new browser tab for the selected account. If prompted, sign in to the Meta account that has access to the business.

Step 3: Open Manage Templates

In WhatsApp Manager:

  1. Open Message templates in the left menu.

  2. Click Manage templates.

The page displays the message templates available for the selected WhatsApp account.

Step 4: Select the Template

Find the template you want to remove. Use the search field if the list is long.

Before deleting, check the template name, category, language, and preview to make sure you have selected the correct one. Then select the checkbox beside the template name.

Step 5: Delete the Template

  1. Click Delete above the template list.

  2. Review the confirmation message.

  3. Click Delete anyway to confirm.

The template is permanently removed from the selected WhatsApp account.
