Meta lets you add a **Call on WhatsApp** button to your WhatsApp templates. Customers can tap to call your business number without saving or dialing it. You can create this template two ways: directly from DoubleTick, or via WhatsApp Manager (FBM).

#### How to create it from DoubleTick

<figure><img src="https://2303112206-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F53n17VnOICC1LtDqlENV%2Fuploads%2FuNjVIoE8bHMIDnHfY9Tp%2FThis%20is%20the%20process%20of%20creating%20a%20template%20where%20you%20can%20add%20a%20%E2%80%9CCall%20on%20WhatsApp%E2%80%9D%20CTA%20button.%20Double%E2%80%91click%20to%20go%20to%20Templates.%20Click%20the%20green%20New%20Template%20button%20and%20start%20a%20new%20template.%20Enter%20t.gif?alt=media&#x26;token=bb6ae2e8-ae92-45ff-be1a-3a23d6478619" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Go to **Templates** on your DoubleTick dashboard and click **New Template**.
* Enter a **template name**, select a **category**, then choose the **language** and **WABA** you want to use. Click **Next**.
* Add your message: an optional **header**, the **body** (your main message text), and an optional **footer**. Click **Next**.
* Under **Buttons**, click **Add**, then select **Call on WhatsApp** from the dropdown.
* Enter the **button name** you want customers to see, and choose how many days it should stay active.
* Add any **variables**, if your message needs them, then click **Submit Template**.

Meta will review your template. Once its status changes from **Pending** to **Approved**, you can start sending it to your customers.

#### How to create it via WhatsApp Manager (FBM)

<figure><img src="https://2303112206-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F53n17VnOICC1LtDqlENV%2Fuploads%2FVwaxDrHuTfqL2kZX6zUw%2FUntitled%20design%20-%202026-09-18T133831.533.gif?alt=media&#x26;token=495f75a0-98b4-43ed-ac47-0f5fe5d1455a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Log in to your **DoubleTick account** and click **Go to FBM Account** to open **WhatsApp Manager** inside Facebook Business Manager.
* From the left menu, select **Message Templates**, then click **Create Template**.
* Choose a **Category** (Marketing is recommended for most use cases), give the template a unique name, and select a language.
* Write your message in the **Body Text** box.
* Scroll to **Buttons**, click **Add a Button → Call on WhatsApp**. It links automatically to your WhatsApp Business number. Save the template.
* Click **Submit**. Meta usually reviews templates within a few minutes to a few hours.
* Once approved, go back to your **DoubleTick dashboard**, sync your templates, and send. Customers will see a **Call on WhatsApp** button they can tap to call you instantly.

#### Keep in mind

* Only one **Call on WhatsApp** button is allowed per template.
* It can't be added together with a **Call Phone Number** button.
* Other buttons, like **Visit website** or quick replies, can be added alongside it.

#### Why use it

* **Instant connection:** customers don't need to search for or dial your number.
* **Higher engagement:** calls convert faster than long chat exchanges.
* **All-in-one history:** calls and messages stay in the same WhatsApp thread inside DoubleTick.

#### Tracking calls from broadcasts

<figure><img src="https://2303112206-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F53n17VnOICC1LtDqlENV%2Fuploads%2FnaV2tE9yDKsn7vu9DpJK%2FUntitled%20design%20-%202026-09-18T170023.417.gif?alt=media&amp;token=110d4ef5-b798-44d3-a7bd-5a6178551dcf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

When you send this template in a broadcast, the broadcast summary shows how many calls came in — Answered, Missed, and Declined — updating live as customers call. See [How to Check Broadcast Summary](/broadcast-list/get-started-with-broadcast-list/how-to-check-broadcast-summary.md) for call analytics and the downloadable per-call report.

#### Key takeaways

* Add one **Call on WhatsApp** button to a template in DoubleTick or WhatsApp Manager.
* Submit the template for Meta review before sending it to customers.
* Combine the button with website links or quick replies, but not **Call Phone Number**.
* Track how your calls perform from the broadcast summary once you send the template.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://learn.doubletick.io/additonal-channels/whatsapp-calling/incoming-whatsapp-calling-api-your-complete-guide/how-to-add-a-call-on-whatsapp-button-to-a-template.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
